Amongst the Stars

Amongst the Stars a Poem by Athena JonesAthena Jones

I know I am not in a place where I can be there for you, but if I were I’d say I love you. I’d say put down these heavy burdens. They are not yours to carry. You have been so strong for so long. Like Atlas holding the weight of the world on his shoulders, but much like Atlas that is not necessary. The sun, gravity, and the other planets will keep the world floating in space in just the perfect place.

So leave the weight of the world behind you. Go wander amongst the stars. Go find your happy place. So many trillions of miles of infinite possibilities, don t let the weight of the world hold you back. I know you are so strong and what is this life once you put that weight down? You will miss its heaviness on your shoulders. You will wander aimlessly through the vastness of space. It will be lonely, but somewhere out there your sun waits for you.

You will stumble across its gaze and it will call to you. You will be consumed by its power, drawn to it like a force like gravity. You will find a happy place where you can dance amongst the stars. Every now and again you’ll look back and see you never needed to hold the weight of the world and be so grateful you were brave enough to put that weight down and wander amongst the stars. Then you will be able to look around at the vastness of space and see you are amongst the stars trillions of miles apart with infinite possibilities all in their happy place so far apart and yet still one universe, each dancing amongst the stars.
